You barely notice him when the Rangers play, a white-bearded man sitting way in back and filling the room with his bass guitar notes. Sometimes the Rangers introduce him as a two-time Grammy nominee, and most people probably think they're joking. They are not. Casey van Beek's fabled career began in Los Angeles in a group that opened for the Rolling Stones and went on to include performances on two albums that were indeed nominated for a Grammy, one by Linda Ronstadt and the other by J.J. Cale and Eric Clapton. Today the Rangers featured his work. He plays blues rockabilly songs so old and obscure that Google doesn't know them, but songs so rocking that they fill the bar with good time music. This song, though, was performed by Cross Canadian Ragweed about 20 years ago. It's called "Headed South".
