SPEAKER- Dr Tjalling Bosse- Leiden University Medical Centre, Netherlands "The Molecular Classification of Endometrial Carcinoma" Dr. Tjalling Bosse is an associate professor in the Department of Pathology, at the Leiden University Medical Centre [LUMC] in the Netherlands, where he combines clinical work, teaching and research. Dr. Bosse currently leads a translational research program focused on gynecological cancers. He is the lead pathologist for international randomised controlled clinical trials [PORTEC- and RAINBO-trials]. His research currently has 3 active themes; 1- improving diagnostic accuracy by integrating molecular genetic features in endometrial carcinomas 2- identification of novel druggable targets within endometrial carcinoma and 3- utilizing deep-learning to improve diagnostic accuracy and identify novel prognostic and predictive biomarkers. His work has had major implications on the management of gynecologic cancer patients worldwide. Since 2013, Dr Bosse has published more than 120 articles covering a wide range of pathology oriented, investigative and clinical peer reviewed journals. He is a recognized inter/national expert and invited speaker at masterclasses, specialised courses and state-of-the-art sessions. He serves on inter/national guideline committees, authored five chapters of the WHO Classification of Tumours of Female Reproductive Organs 2020. He received many awards including Ramzi S. Cotran Young Investigator Award from the USCAP [2023], a Young Investigator Grant by the Dutch Cancer Society [2016], The Helga Salvesen Award [2017] by the ESGO and the Jeremy Jass Prize for research excellence by the Journal of Pathology [2020]. ABSTRACT: "The Molecular Classification of Endometrial Carcinoma" Endometrial Cancer is the most common gynaecologic malignancy. Pathologic assessment of the hysterectomy specimen with endometrial cancer has always been critical for postoperative management decisions, placing pathologists in a leading position at tumor boards. With the advance of the molecular EC classification, an objective, reproducible framework for categorization of this disease has evolved which improves our ability to prognosticate and direct therapy. In his talk, Dr. Bosse, will discuss some of the critical papers that have led to this paradigm shift in endometrial cancer diagnostics.
