Bikepacking with a tarp

Last year, as an experiment to reduce the weight of my bikepacking gear, I thought I’d ditch the tent and see if a tarp could take its place. The tarp set-up had to weigh less than a decent 1 person tent (1kg) and be just as functional. It had to be free-standing, like a tent, using the bike as the support structure allowing me to use the tarp on a campsite as well as in the woods. So many bike orientated tarp set-ups are flawed by the fact that it's difficult to get under the tarp due to the limited head height afforded by the bike. Which is made all the worse when it's raining, or the ground is muddy. And forget trying to cook or eat under it! This video has two different pitching layouts, both with access / height issues but I'm in the process of trying out a third layout which I think solves the problems. I'll upload the video soon!
