Episode 2 | Stopping Pain Based Identity Divorced, Not Damaged Podcast Pain can shape perspective. But it was never meant to become identity. In this episode, we explore how pain can become intertwined with identity after divorce or major life transitions. What begins as survival can slowly become the way someone sees themselves. We talk about recognizing when hurt has turned into self-definition and how to begin shifting toward a healthier, more grounded sense of self. This conversation focuses on awareness, faith, community, and rebuilding from a place of strength rather than trauma. About This Episode’s Guest Jami is 38 years old and was married for 12 years. In early October 2024, her husband’s double life involving an extensive affair was exposed. She is now divorced and a single mom to her two-year-old son, Jamison. Fifteen months following what she calls “the great exposure,” Jami is able to reflect on her progress in her personal healing journey. Her faith and commitment to her core values have helped her recognize and rise above pain-based identity while focusing on the blessings that continue to move her forward. She believes a major part of healing is strong community, especially with others who have experienced similar trauma and are willing to be vulnerable, offer encouragement, and provide mentorship. Jami is committed to sharing her story wherever it may offer comfort and support to someone navigating a difficult season, particularly one that feels overwhelming in the moment.
