32/42 - Palmerston Park, Queen of the South FC, 27/9/19. One of the longest trips on the tour for us as we find ourselves in Dumfries to tick off ground 32 on the tour. The match was Queen of the South v Dundee. Firstly a huge thanks to the club for providing us with complimentary tickets for the match, very much appreciated. We found the ground without any issue and parked at the “arena” which had plenty of free parking available. The Queen of the South Arena is a fab idea and contains a cafe, ticket office, club shop and other facilities all under one roof. All were doing a roaring trade! Sadly we couldn’t get a club crest pin badge at the shop but we did pick up a special centenary one at a cost of £4.00. The club shop stocked a fab range of Queen’s merch and the staff were friendly and helpful. We chose to sit in the Main Stand and found great seats high up and pretty much on the half way line. Aside from one pillar we had a decent view of the game. Off to our left was a covered terrace which housed the most vocal of the home support. Directly opposite was an all seated stand which was split between the home and away support. This stand offered an unobstructed view of the action. To the right was a closed terrace. The Queens pie was hot! Very hot! Enjoyable it was too! A decent 8/10 we’d say. As for the match, it started at breakneck speed with the home side taking an early lead with Dundee responding soon after. Then followed end to end action with the teams evenly balanced creating chances throughout. In the end a 1-1 draw was about right. Just 10 to go now!
