New South Wales – Waves Welcome to Waves, a tucked-away stretch of raw coastline near Crescent Head where rocky outcrops divide long arcs of beachbreak. It's a quiet section of national park with a punchy southeast-facing setup that lights up with strong NE or S winds. When the breeze turns onshore, the area becomes a playground for wave riders with enough room to find your own section. The southernmost launch is just north of the rocks, with ample sand and a steep enough gradient for a clean get-off. Be prepared for swell—this isn’t a beginner’s bay. The surrounding reefs and rock islands form strong rip currents, so know your exit plans if you’re pushing out the back or going for longer tacks. You’ll find peak action on a rising tide with NE wind wrapping into the beach at a slight cross-on angle. Early mornings can be glassy and wingfoiling is absolutely doable if you’re experienced, though the shore dump on some days makes launching a mission. It’s an untapped gem for those confident in waves. Access is via Point Plomer Road through Limeburners Creek National Park. No reception, no crowds, no dramas—just you and the elements. Rugged and raw, Waves holds its name for a reason.
