Planting a BUCKWHEAT Food Plot For Deer with Update!

I planted a half-acre food plot with buckwheat in May and 44 days later it has been almost completely destroyed by the deer. I seeded the plot at a rate of 40 lbs per acre. I also applied ag lime to the plot and 250 pounds of 19-19-19 fertilizer. The deer began browsing heavily on the buckwheat soon after we fenced in the bean plot in attempt to salvage what was left. The deer have also been in the clover quite a bit, but I forgot to mention that. The second plot of buckwheat will be fenced in and with the moisture, the warm temperatures, and the very warm soil temperatures, they should be flowering in just a few weeks.
