RED KITES at Gigrin Farm, Rhayader

Two afternoon sessions at Gigrin Farm hides gave John and I a good chance of videoing (me) and still images (John and me) although the weather was unsettled and did not help. Our first session was in the Lower Hide which. when the weather is perfect, ie blowing from behind the hide, there is a good chance of shots of the birds flying directly at you. it was swirling round for us but we got some good other shots and I played about with my first videoing with the Canon R5 and r100-500mm lens, The Buzzard and first Red Kite cruising round were my first attempts. The second session was from the photography hide which is a first storey hide so we were the opposite to the Lower hide. We both were happy, not only with the number of Kites, about a hundred altogether I guessed, but also the weather was kinder. I had been to Gigrin a couple of previous occasions but my very good friend and a very excellent wildlife and other, photographer was on his first outing there. I am sure he will be going again.
