On the same day, he was involved in a physical altercation with four or five Henry County corrections officers. His injuries worsened over the following days. Gulley's health declined, leading to emergency services being called nine days later, on Sunday, February 18, 2026, and he was transported to Henry County Hospital. Due to the severity of his condition, he was airlifted by Lifeline helicopter to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, where he was placed in the intensive care unit on life support. He remained there until his passing today, Friday, February 27, 2026, at 557 p.m. This tragic outcome represents yet another serious incident raising questions about the leadership, policies, and culture within the Henry County Sheriff’s Office under Sheriff John M. Sproles. These events add to a growing list of concerns that demand transparency, answers, and accountability. The various videos from the jail capture key moments involving Gulley during his incarceration, offering critical insights into the circumstances surrounding his detention, subsequent medical emergency, and death.
