The Seiko Prospex SPB143, SPB145, SPB147, And SPB149 Interpretations Of Seiko's First Diver. This quartet of brand new SPB divers, the 143, 145, 147, and 149. Now sized at a not-common-to-Seiko 40.5mm (also 13.2mm thick, and 47.6mm lug to lug), these new models also offer a dial design that is much, much closer to that of the SLA017 and its dear old daddy, the 62MAS. All versions, regardless of reference, sport 40.5mm wide steel cases that have Seiko "super hard coating" along with 200-meters water resistance, a double domed and anti-reflective sapphire crystal, and Seiko's LumiBrite lume. Timekeeping is managed by the Seiko 6R35 automatic, which ticks at 21,600 vph and offers hacking, hand-winding, and a power reserve of 70 hours. For the price point, these are solid specs and, speaking personally, I'm so excited to see these in person as that 62MAS and its skin diver-esque case is so good on the wrist (and keep in mind that the SLA017 measured ~46mm lug to lug).
