Indiana lawmakers propose bill to create stadium authority to lure Chicago Bears to Lake County

Indiana lawmakers are moving forward with a push to bring the Chicago Bears to the Hoosier State. Senate Bill 27 was amended Thursday, Jan. 15 to establish a stadium authority in northwest Indiana "for the purpose of acquiring and financing certain facilities." The Bears posted a letter to fans in December expressing interest in Indiana as a possible location for a new stadium. The team had hoped to break ground on a new stadium location in the Chicago suburb of Arlington Heights, but Warren said in his letter that state legislators told the team their stadium project "will not be a priority in 2026."
