AMD Llano was the last iteration of K10 architecture. There were some performance improvements compared to the older K10 Athlons - the most significant was doubled L2 cache to 1 MB per core. But L3 cache is absent in order to save die space... for integrated GPU. This is the first AMD's solution with CPU and GPU on single die. Integrated Radeon HD 6550D was much better than Intel IGPs at the time. Anyway, is this case we are comparing only the CPU part. A8-3850 was the fastest Llano at the time of introduction (June 2011) with 4 cores at 2.9 GHz. Manufacturing process was 32nm and it wasn't very good - neither power consumption and frequency improved much compared to older 45nm Athlons / Phenoms. Core i3-2130 launched in September 2011, half a year later than first Sandy Bridge CPUs. This one is the fastest i3 model at 3.4 GHz, no turbo like the rest of the i3. There are 2 cores with HT, so 4 threads in total. At the time SB i3 were not exactly cheap and AMD's competition for them were quadcore K10 and later even 6-core FX. So let's see how i3-2130 compares to AMD A8-3850. All the test scenes are 100% CPU limited. Testing resolution is always 1920x1080 with 16xAF and vsync off. All the videos are recorded using dedicated PC with capture card, there is zero performance impact on the tested CPUs. CPUs tested: A8-3850 [4C/4T, 2.9 GHz] https://hw-museum.cz/cpu/214/amd-a8-3850 Core i3-2130 [2C/4T, 3.4 GHz] https://hw-museum.cz/cpu/500/intel-co... 0:00 Introduction 0:26 Call of Duty: World at War 2:39 F1 2018 4:08 Far Cry 5 5:44 GTA V 7:03 Power consumption GPU used for all benchmarks - GeForce RTX 3080 (551.61 driver). The power consumption of the CPUs is measured by my own wattmeter designed for this purpose. It also has interface to integrate the power figures to HWinfo64 and therefore also to MSI Afterburner and RTSS. The whole system power consumption measurement is provided by Corsair RM1000i and HWinfo64.
