Hi Everyone So this video is about my pituitary cyst and how I got diagnosed. Since 2015 I have been having severe headaches in my eye. Fast forward to January 2019 and I began feeling really run down with more frequent and intense headaches. I was exhausted to the point where I couldnt get anything done. On May 27th, I got admitted with a sickle cell crisis and told them I felt awful, my consultant took me seriously and looked at a year old mri image they had of my brain, and found “a hyperintense area around the pituitary gland”. The pituitary gland is located in the lower part of your brain, they did bloods for that specific area in the brain and they came back abnormal. They couldn’t work out if it was a bleed/clot/tumour in my brain which may have been caused by a sickle cell crisis. I had 2 more MRI’s and a CT scan of my head and this new imaging was sent off to an expert neurosurgeon at UCLH immediately. If it was a bleed I would have to have brain surgery right away. It wasn’t a bleed, the neurosurgeon diagnosed me with a pars intermedia cyst on my pituitary gland and I was put on steroids. Currently I see a neurosurgeon who has decided she is not happy to do brain surgery just yet because my sickle cell makes things complicated but in a few years I won’t have any other choice but to do the surgery. I also see an endocrinologist who is monitoring my hormones and steroid use. I see an ophthalmology consultant who does a range of eye and visual field tests because the cyst can cause me to lose my eyesight at anytime. I was diagnosed with 2 new long term conditions:- 1. Pars intermedia cyst on the pituitary gland 2. Hypopituitarism secondary to pituitary cyst which requires steroid medication There is no cure; when I eventually have the surgery to remove the cyst, my neurosurgeon explained that I will be left with severe hypopituitarism and there will be a chance that the cyst may grow back. the best news out of all of this, when I do have the surgery in a few years time, they will access my brain through my nose so I won’t have to cut any of my hair off no one can ever get in the way of my hair growth Like, Comment & Share this video!!! -----------------------------SUBSCRIBE TO MY CHANNEL ----------------------------------------- / @beautywithrach95 FOLLOW ME------- @spoonietravell1 Instagram- / spoonietravell1 Twitter- / spoonietravell1 Song- Kombucha drone by unicorn heads
