Recorded on 22/11/22. A warning that there is swearing in this video. Here is Mango-liveried Optare Versa 848 (YJ14 BRX) on the H1 towards Heanor. Below, are the timestamps for the key moments in this video: 0:32 - Higher pitched stop bell & juddering deceleration 3:06 - More vibrations 3:39 - Start of Morley fast section 5:45 - Loud juddering 8:25 - Higher revs 9:53 - Fast thrash First of all, I want to apologise for how botched this video was. My intention was to record a backseat video of an H1 Volvo B7RLE Eclipse to Heanor. From there, I would intercept Optare Solo SR 502 (YD63 VDM). However, due to a delayed entry into Derby, I was left with the only spare vehicle in rotation - 848. When boarding, the bus was already quite full and the back row was occupied by a group of girls. As they were speaking so loud, their conversation can be heard throughout the entire video. So I ended up without a Volvo and without a backseat video. Because of the reasons mentioned prior, I was unable to film a panorama of the interior stickers. For a video without talking and featuring an interior showcase, please click the link at the end of the description for my 847 (YJ14 BRV) video. Returning to 848 now. 848 entered service on 26/07/14, branded for the Rainbow One route. A small nod to this can be found near the next stop announcement screen, where the overhead LED lights are still dark blue. Alongside 13 other Cummins Versas, these vehicles remained on the route until 13/09/20. The day after, a new batch of Enviro 200 MMCs displaced the Versas from Rainbow One. 10 of the 14 Versas were branded for The Sixes, while the remaining 4 became spare. 848 returned to service in February 2021, based at Langley Mill. At the time of filming, H1 was running with a PVR of 5. Despite being a spare vehicle, 848 found itself on H1 nearly every day (alongside the four H1 Volvos). This was due to the two branded H1 Versas being removed from service towards the end of 2022, presumably in the queue for repainting. In April 2023, the 12 minute frequency was reinstated. This increased the PVR by 1. As a result, the two H1 Versas returned to service, unchanged from how they were before. Nowadays, 848 often finds itself on H1 or My 15. 829 (YD63 VCW) has been removed from the H1 again, so the route finds itself a branded vehicle down. Subsequently, 848 is often one of the vehicles making up the PVR. Now onto the journey itself. Compared to 847, 848 has a higher pitched indicator sound and stop bell noise. I was a little disappointed, as this bus sounded slightly tired, the seats were quite worn and the USB power was not turned on. Nevertheless, there is still that great Cummins soundtrack and the ride was relatively smooth. Overall, not a bad journey. But given different circumstances, it could have been a lot better.
