In this English grammar, you will learn about the form video of the present perfect tense. I look at the affirmative form (positive), negative form and question form of the present perfect tense. I also explain the contracted forms for the affirmative and negative. The present perfect is formed by a combination of the auxiliary verb "have" in the present followed by the past participle of the main verb. Example: "I have worked." The past participle of regular verbs is formed by adding "ed" to the base form. I also give you the spelling rules for forming the past participle of other regular verbs. The past participle of irregular verbs have no rules at all and you must simply learn them by heart when you learn a new verb. Some examples are: be - been, find - found, do - done, go - gone. At the end of this English grammar lesson, there are some exercises to test your understanding. If you have any questions, please ask me in the comments section below the video lesson and I will answer. The accent in the video is a British English accent. Part 2 of this video series (use and meaning) will be released next Friday 24th November and will focus on: how and when to use the present perfect, the difference between the present perfect and the past simple and the difference between been and gone.
