Kitchens are usually the most challenging rooms to style if you’re renting because you don’t have that much leeway for making changes. White should be your go-to option, especially if natural light is a challenge. If you have a really dark kitchen paint the ceiling in gloss rather than matt to bounce more light around the room. If you’re renting long-term, ask the landlord for permission to paint the units. This is an affordable option and a great way to lift the space. Landlords are usually open to changes that improve their property but make sure you get written permission to avoid a misunderstanding down the line. If you can’t paint the units at least change the handles – this is a quick hack. Keep the old ones though so you can replace them when you move out.
