Are you part of a botnet? Hard to tell. Botnets can wreak havoc on your computer, data and personal or professional reputation. Watch to learn what botnets are and how they infiltrate systems. A botnet is a collection of user devices -- like laptops, servers, or a cell phone -- that have been infected by one bot master -- or hacker. To create a botnet, a hacker first infiltrates one system or devices with malware, turning it into a bot; this can be done in a variety of ways, undetectable to the user. Then, the hacker’s job is basically done. Once they’ve infected one device, the malware is designed to autonomously infect more and more devices, creating more bots, and forming a botnet. Botnets can impact anyone, but there are a number of measures you can take to prevent an infection, and sometimes remove the malware infecting your system. Have you ever fallen victim to a botnet attack? Let us know what measures you take to prevent and detect botnet attacks in the comments, and please hit the like button.
