In season 5 of "Kintetsu Kinki Cultural Association On-site Lectures: Going to Asuka with Popular Lecturers," we will take you on a journey to explore the mysteries of Fujiwara-kyo, which was the capital of Japan from Asuka in 694 until it was moved to Heijo-kyo in 710. This season, we will once again be guided by Professor Aihara Yoshiyuki of Nara University, who is active at the forefront of ancient history research. Enjoy the easy-to-understand and fun explanations of Professor Aihara, who is also known for guiding Tamori on the TV show Bura Tamori. This is the ninth episode, and we will head to the place where a discovery was made that led to the further expansion of the scope of Fujiwara-kyo, which was thought to exist in the early days of Fujiwara-kyo research. The remains of the road discovered there are still traces of it, and are now a slope to a parking lot. After hearing about why that place came to be considered the "edge" of the capital, we will also head to the western edge of O-Fujiwara-kyo, which was discovered around the same time. This series is produced with the cooperation of Kintetsu Cultural Projects and Kinki Cultural Association, who dispatch lecturers and provide planning support. The Kinki Cultural Association publishes the cultural booklet "Kinki Culture" every month and holds on-site tours (on-site classes) twice a month where expert instructors guide visitors to shrines, temples, historical sites, etc. For more information, please see the link below.
