This feature documentary chronicles the story behind the 131 dinosaur footprints (dinosaur tracks) found at Prince Charles's Point on the Isle of Skye, Scotland, and research efforts led by University of Edinburgh Masters graduate, Tone Blakesley. Prince Charles's Point features some of the longest and youngest presently known dinosaur trackways in Western Scotland. This includes footprints made by meat-eating theropods and long necked, plant-eating sauropods. The footprints are preserved in a sharply defined rippled sandstone, representing a 167-million-year-old, subtropical lagoon margin (shoreline). The discovery has provided researchers with an enriched view into the environmental preferences and behaviours of globally scarce Middle Jurassic aged dinosaurs. One of these findings highlights the habitual preference of lagoonal environments for theropods and sauropods over drier mudflats. Intriguingly, the site also has some historical significance, as a place on Skye where Bonnie Prince Charlie landed and hid during his flight across Scotland following the Battle of Culloden.
