It takes two hours approx to reach Siliguri from Teesta town. Siliguri is around 50 to 60 kms from Teesta.There is a Bazaar named Teesta bazaar. Teesta Bazaar, also known as tenth mile among local people, is a shopper's paradise and the main bazaar (market) area in Kalimpong. Situated 90m above sea level, it is located on National Highway 31A on the Siliguri – Gangtok highway. Teesta Bazaar is located 4 kms downwards from the industrial town of Melli. This is where the Teesta River flows into West Bengal. The main market flourishes with craft, handicraft items and artefacts made by local craftsmen. The main attractions of the Bazaar are the costly crafted items which are not easily available elsewhere. One can shop for local items like thankas, crockery, daggers, footwear, lanterns, copper items, silver wares, jewellery and food items at moderate rates from this bazaar. Most of the area here is patrolled by the Indian Army as it comes under a sensitive border area.
