Alan MacVey is a professor of directing and acting and acting director of the division of performing arts at the University of Iowa. For nearly three decades he served as chair of the department of theater arts. He is a fellow in the College of Fellows of the American Theatre and served as president of the National Association of Schools of Theatre. From 1976 to 2015 he was artistic director of the acting ensemble at the Bread Loaf School of English, a graduate program of Middlebury College.
