Meet ECOOKIM: The cocoa co-operative building a better world for thousands of farmers in Ivory Coast

In this short film, meet members of Kapatchiva, a cocoa co-operative in Bonon, a city in the heart of Ivory Coast - a West African country responsible for producing 45% of the world's cocoa. Kapatchiva belong to a network of 32 cocoa and cashew producing organisations united by ECOOKIM (Enterprise Cooperative Kimbe) to comprise a co-operative union, with a shared objective of connecting local farmers with international markets and equitable prices, whilst combatting child labour and promoting sustainable, organic practices across the supply chain. ECOOKIM is one of the largest cocoa producers in Ivory Coast, supporting over 32,000 farmers like Alice, Kouame and Yao, as featured in this film, with decent work and ongoing investments in their learning, farms and local communities. Since 2014, ECOOKIM has used Shared Interest finance to build warehouses, purchase vehicles and invest in education, health facilities, water and sanitation for its co-operative union.
