Welcome to Chevy's Creative Workshop I was asked by a friend to make a unique shelving unit in their cottage, they gave me a rough idea of what they wanted so I installed a Log Shelving Unit unique to their house. There were a few designs online, however no real clear guidance on how to build one. I came up with a most simplest of ways to build this, create the shelves cut a log per shelf and sit a shelf ontop of each log and so on. Simple right? No! Took a bit of adjustment over a few hours to get it right. I started by Measuring the location where it was going to be installed, once I knew the height and width I simply divided the logs and sehlves evenly in length and width. I had to strip all the bark off the logs and cut them to size and ensure the final cuts were level. I cut away any bad bits of the logs, sanded them and treated them so they don't split. The shelves I cut to shape from the measurements taken from the install location, routed some edging designs into the front of each shelf. To attack the shelves to the Logs I used a dowel between each and wood glue to be extra strong. I had to use a small brack at the back on the first log to keep it stable and a final brack in the end log attached to the ceiling. All in all the project cost £ for the logs off Gumtree, £35 for a sheet of 18mm Ply and a few £ for sanding pads, waxes and glues. I am aiming to create new projects each week and eventually start on VLOGs for future projects. *** PLEASE LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE TO MY CHANNEL ***
