Flooding and extreme rainfall events continue to pose significant risks to infrastructure, communities, and the environment. Effective flood forecasting and heavy rain protection are therefore critical components of climate-resilient planning and sustainable development. This webinar explores how hydraulic modelling supports flood and heavy rainfall risk management. The session will introduce key modelling approaches used to predict flood events, assess flow paths, and analyse the impacts of land-use change and new construction projects. It will further demonstrate how hydraulic modelling contributes to resilient construction design, informed decision-making, and sustainable spatial planning. The webinar will be facilitated by Philipp Rinkel, Project Engineer at Aquantec GmbH (Germany), whose work focuses on surface water and groundwater modelling, water balance analysis, and climate-adapted water management, including research under the WaMiSAR project. The session is open to students, PhD candidates, researchers, and stakeholders with an interest in hydrology, engineering, environmental planning, and climate-resilient water management.
