Sample Lesson Plan: LESSON PLAN Subject: Biology Grade: 9th Textbook: PTB Topic:interphase & mitosis Time duration: 40minutes General objectives: At the end of the lesson, • Students will be able to define cell cycle. • Students will be able to describe its main phases. Specific objectives: At the end of lesson, • Students will be able to explain the sub phases of interphase of cell cycle. • Students will be able to explain the importance of S phase. RESOURCES: Internet source, laptop connected with internet, Google meet software, Power point slides, Online whiteboard, Multimedia, Short videos , Punjab Curriculum Textbook Board Lahore (Soft copy) Procedure: Introduction: I introduce the topic by using the previous knowledge of how cells come. Cells are the building block of life. All cells come from previous cells. For the continuity of life it is essential that reproduction of cells takes place. I also tell how number of cell is increased. After this I introduce the topic of cell cycle by correlating it with cell structure and cell division. Teaching procedure: Lecture method Before starting my lecture, I will ask about topic from my students and I will perform one or two activities from my students giving some task to make class more interactive. Activity method Cross questioning with student for grasping their attention and to get their attention in the lesson. After this I draw a flow chart on online whiteboard and ppt slides for better understanding of the topic. Student participation: For student participation, I arrange an activity which is as follows: By using the previous concepts, I elaborate each phase of interphase in the cell cycle. Then I tell the students about each event of interphase that is the replication of chromosomes to produce two chromatids that are attached at the centromere. Another activity is that for better understanding of knowledge and I arrange microscope in the class and show them the prepared sides of each phase. In this way a better discussion on each phase have occurred. Formative check: I assess the students by asking following questions: • What is a cell cycle? • How a number of cells increased? • What are the characteristics of interphase? Closure/summarizing I conclude the topic by revising the main points of the topic like definition of cell cycle and phases of cell cycle. Assignment/ Homework: I draw a blank sketch of cell cycle at the online whiteboard and ask the students to copy this on their notebooks and after this I guide them to complete this from home. I ask the students to solve the problems on neat notebooks that are given at the end of exercise. 1.
