A song from our new album Lampwood Apocrypha. Recorded in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Album artwork by H.J. Anderson Artwork Apparel: https://those-who-live-in-death.print... https://thosewholiveindeath.bandcamp.... ________________________________________________________ Deathbed Companion In the warmth of her chamber, I knelt down. She held me as though, True Mercy was not a lie. Her cold grasping fingers, Were lifeless and still, Beyond oblivion or love, True guidance to the afterlife. She knelt before no altar, only flies and rotten flesh, And in soft Earth, Lay with the corpse of a god. And when I found her, At the source of unseen rivers. Never ending waters, That feed the roots of the Greattree She did not pray, She did not plead. She held undead, Like a mother holds a healthy child. Gestation of the corpse, In the womb of - dusk, As a whore undevoured, A second chance of an illustrious life. I knelt, not to worship, but to listen and hear her words, And understand the Coming of Dusk, From a true vessel of the night. She did not save me. She did not damn me. She did not ask for reason, And in that silence, I was whole.
