Sunday morning here in the Georgian city of Akhaltsikhe and we are off in search of some Meskhetian classics such as mulberry churchkela which I hear is a specialty of the region. Not going to lie we did not find what we were after and the market wasn't too great but oh well it is what it is everywhere can't be the best! We still had a decent day in the end though and tried a new style of khachapuri native to the region called penovani khachapuri which was super cheap and quite tasty. Oh and in the evening we headed up to the famous rabati castle here in Akhaltsikhe which you can see from all over the city, we climbed one of the castle towers for stunning 360 degree views over the landscapes and it was free entry to the first section of the castle grounds so good news all round! Again Akhaltsikhe is an underrated travel destination here in Georgia, yeah there's lots of famous tourist sites around the city but the actual city itself is also beautiful with small town feels and really friendly Georgians, well worth spending your time here we stayed the best part of a week and loved the place 🇬🇪 If you want us to keep travelling and giving back to local people you can support us right here - https://paypal.me/EllisWR Revolut - @xellisridingx Any donations are greatly appreciated and will always go to local businesses!
