Camorr Illustration | The Lies of Locke Lamora | Digital Painting Process | The Gentlemen Bastards

They have been absolutely amazing to work with, I have done 4 pieces for them so far and I am currently finishing 3 more for Malazan Book of the Fallen. I hope to work with them as much as possible! This was a dream project for me as The Lies of Locke Lamora is one of my favorite books. I listened to the Audiobook for this again as I painted. Getting in all of the details from the book was a fun challenge. Using maps and reading through the book, I decided on this view of the Via Camorrazza, with the Angevine river in the distance and the shifting market to the right. The 5 towers in the distance as describe in the books with their heights, sizes, and colors, as well as the 3 moons described in the books. In the canal and some of the windows you can see the alchemical lamps. Locke and Jean and of course the Wicked Sisters. Specs: The final canvas size was 14745 by 9392 pixels, so this could be printed at 300ppi at 50 inches / 120 cm wide. I am using 3 monitors: 27" on the left for audiobooks, discord, and screen recording software 32" monitor above for reference and research 24" huion kamvas pro 4k tablet below for painting My computer has a 3960x threadripper and a 3090 graphics card along with 128gb ddr4. I usually do some 3d in the process to get a base for architecture but I wanted to do everything by hand for this one. Update on Cloudrunner: A lot of people have been asking when my next Cloudrunner video will be out, I hope soon! I overbooked myself with commissions this year and it is always difficult to take time away for personal projects when I am overdue on commissions.
