Year 4 Teeth & The Digestive System | Primary Topic at Sunny View

This term, Year 4 explored the fascinating journey food takes through the human digestive system. From learning about the different types of teeth and their functions to investigating dental health through experiments, the children developed their scientific understanding through hands-on activities and investigations. Students created playdough teeth models, carried out experiments on how drinks affect enamel, tested toothpaste effectiveness, and built life-sized digestive systems to understand how the organs work together. One of the highlights was simulating the digestive process using everyday materials, bringing the science of digestion to life in a fun and memorable way. To finish the topic, the children used their creativity to write diary entries from the perspective of a piece of food travelling through the body. This topic combined science, maths, creativity and investigation, and we are incredibly proud of the curiosity and enthusiasm our Year 4 students showed throughout their learning.
