Valentyna Zotova speaks on the existing need for urban planning projects and initiatives due to Ukraine’s constant political and socio-economical crisis. Because the climate makes it difficult for government policies to be utilized, collaboration across disciplines is a necessity. CANactions is a school for urban studies that had 32 graduates from different specialties to further city development. Including publishing a book at the end of each year with the results of the student's work and different methodologies. Valentyna Zotova is a director at the architectural bureau “Zotov&Co” and director of the International Architectural Festival CANactions, both in Kyiv, Ukraine. Since 2014 Valentyna Zotova has also been the president of the charity foundation “CANactions” that holds the CANactions School for Urban Studies--full-time 4-month interdisciplinary programs oriented on city development. --- reSITE is an international platform connecting people and ideas to improve the urban environment. We work at the intersection of architecture, urbanism, politics, culture, and economics. We feature thought leaders whose work pushes the boundaries on how we build, design, regenerate and create life in cities, and frame them through many lenses, convening them in one place. We act as a catalyst for social action and innovative leadership. We encourage an exchange of ideas about making cities more livable, competitive, and resilient. We protect and promote public space, architecture, and sustainable development in cities. All to make our cities more livable, competitive, resilient, inclusive, mobile, and designed with humans in mind.
