What Is Community? | Hackney Museum

Cazenove Road is a street in the north of Hackney where people from all over the world live side by side, with different faiths, cultures, heritage, clothes, languages and food. The area provides a snapshot of the diversity of Hackney, yet at the same time it has its own local identity. The film captured the voices of Cazenove residents sharing their ideas of what community is or should be, and what growing up, living, studying and working in the area means to them. This film was made for the exhibition ‘Side by Side: Living in Cazenove’ (January to May 2014). This exhibition was supported by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation. Hackney Museum has a range of free learning resources to help teachers to explore the experiences of diverse communities settling in Hackney over time.
