Taize - In the Lord I'll Be Ever Thankful

Music Monday's in Lent will consist of music from the community of Taizé. In the south of Burgundy, France, there is a small village called Taizé. This village, founded over seventy years ago by Brother Roger, is home to a monastic community devoted to prayer and reconciliation. The community is made up of brothers from all the continents and major denominations who gather together three times a day, seven days a week, throughout the year to pray. Taizé-style worship is used in many houses of worship the world over. Taizé is characterized by the use of repetitive prayer-refrains set to simple musical lines. Although repetition in worship is not a new phenomenon or unique to this tradition, the ease with which this song-prayer can convey simple messages from the bible into almost any language is unsurpassed.
