Uganda: an innovative fund helping both farmers and entrepreneurs

As a farmer in Uganda, finding a reliable market for your produce is sometimes challenging, but with the help of a special fund, rural producers are connected to companies who in turn receive investments so they can scale up production. Kampfeed is one of 15 companies who have so far benefited from this fund. They produce animal feed from produce supplied by local farmers and sell it across Uganda. The Yield Fund which is funded by IFAD, the government of Uganda and the European Union is an innovative social impact investment fund targeting the missing middle in the investment space - agricultural small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and producer groups in Uganda. It offers patient, risk capital products, such as equity, quasi-equity and debt funding.
