Pioli has created a system which allows for a varied and versatile approach. In possession, Milan often switch between a calculated approach where they play through the thirds to a high-tempo counter attacking style. This is rotated depending on the opponent and the situations that arise within games. A lot of their play is in the wide areas, where the likes of Rebic and Theo Hernandez exploit the space from the width they create to provide crosses for the likes of Ibrahimovic.
