In November 1952, one of the most incredible defensive battles in military history unfolded on a frozen Korean hillside. 400 Canadian soldiers from the Royal Canadian Regiment faced an assault by 3,000 Chinese troops on Hill 355 - a position the enemy had nicknamed "Little Gibraltar" and were determined to capture. What happened over the next 12 hours would become the stuff of legend. The Canadians, dug into reinforced bunkers and armed with precise artillery coordination, held their ground through wave after wave of attacks. When Chinese soldiers penetrated their perimeter, Major George Flint made an almost unthinkable decision - he called artillery fire on his own position. By dawn on November 24th, Hill 355 remained in Canadian hands. The Chinese had suffered over 800 casualties. The Canadians lost 18 killed and 35 wounded - devastating losses, but they had held against 8-to-1 odds. Chinese military reports captured months later revealed a new nickname for the Canadian defenders: "Hua Gang Shao Bing" - The Granite Sentinels. It was spoken with frustration and reluctant respect. Some positions, some soldiers, simply could not be broken. This is the untold story of Hill 355, featuring details from declassified reports, veteran accounts, and captured Chinese documents. Discover how preparation, discipline, and unbreakable courage turned 400 men into a legend that enemy forces would never forget. 🎖️ Support the channel to bring more forgotten military history to light! #Hill355 #KoreanWar #CanadianMilitary #RoyalCanadianRegiment #MilitaryHistory #GraniteSentinels #BattleStories #KoreanWarHistory #CanadianArmy #MilitaryTactics #WarStories #ForgottenBattles #DefensiveBattle #MilitaryLegends #HistoryDocumentary #KoreaWar #RCR #CanadianHeroes #WarHistory #BattleOfHill355 #ChinesePVA #UNForces #ColdWarHistory #MilitaryStrategy #VeteranStories #1952 #JamestownLine #HistoryChannel #TrueWarStories #MilitaryDocumentary #CanadianHistory #AsianHistory #ForgottenHistory #WarVeterans #CombatHistory #BattleAnalysis #TacticalHistory #HistoryBuff #MilitaryAnalysis #WarfareHistory
