A person who is on an oral contraceptive pills, they are on a combination of hormones called estrogen and progesterone. So they regularize the period very well but, when they regularize the period and when the person is over a few months of OCP’s then there is endometrial atrophy which happens. So the amount of bleeding becomes very scanty. So the monthly periods or the bleeds that happen are scanty. Nothing to be done about it, it is quite fine. When the person stops the oral contraceptive pills, they go back to its own regular periods or the flow. So basically no treatment required for scanty periods as such. But if the scanty periods are troubling, the person so much then the only way is to stop the oral contraceptive pills and it gets back to the normal periods.
