Advocacy and IEPs Heather Piszar Heather Piszar wears many hats but considers her roles as wife and mother the most important. Heather has four children aged 11-18, including Sarah, who was diagnosed with Mowat-Wilson Syndrome in 2007. A former elementary school teacher and childcare provider, Heather holds a BS in English Language and Literature/Education from Eastern Michigan University with some Masters work in Early Childhood Education. Heather is an active volunteer in her church and her children’s schools. She is currently involved in the PTA at her daughter’s school and also her district and county SEPAC (Special Education Parent Advisory Council). Heather has completed Leaders in Policy Advocacy training through the ARC of Michigan. Advocacy and supporting parents of children with disabilities are areas of special interest.
