A powerful sea shanty and folk ballad that tells the story of a rugged limestone coast, where the ghosts of shipwrecked sailors still cry in the wind. From the patient assault of the waves on the rocks to the tall ships that ran before the storm, this song is a tribute to the deadly beauty of the sea and those who braved it, bound for South Australia. I wrote this after driving the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. Lyrics (c) Marc Glasby The weathered limestone buttress stands against the pounding sea The wind whips through the saltbush Un-harnessed, fresh, and free The crashing waves assault the rocks how solid they appear but wind and waves are patient foes that never count the years The weathered rock is worn away though it's an uphill climb These mighty blocks will wear away beset by tide and time Yo ho let the wind blow let the waves crash and let the sails go feel the storm break and feel the fear grow we’re bound for south Australia What a sight my eyes behold along this rugged shore where tall ships ran before the wind and sails from rigging tore Where now the seabirds wheel and dive in to the briny foam once shipwrecked souls beheld the cliffs so far from hearth and home Beheld their awful majesty in freezing wind and rain and only but a lucky few would see their homes again Yo ho let the wind blow let the waves crash and let the sails go feel the storm break and feel the fear grow we’re bound for south Australia Though many years have passed since then it comes as no surprise that when the wind rips through the rocks you'll hear the sailors cries Yo ho let the wind blow let the waves crash and let the sails go feel the storm break and feel the fear grow we’re bound for south Australia Yo ho let the wind blow let the waves crash and let the sails go feel the storm break and feel the fear grow we’re bound for south Australia Check out our full playlist: • Abandoned in the Outback: The Ballad of th... AI music is controversial as is has the possibility of putting a lot of people in the music industry out of work BUT it also democratises music. I have zero musical talent. I can’t write music and I can’t sing but I do write lyrics that I believe are good enough to be made into songs. So far this has only happened to two on my ballads and I have so many more that I think will make good songs. Enter AI. I now have the opportunity to turn my words into songs and to share them with the world at large. Although my ballads have been shared for many years, people are just not interested in reading them. Songs are so much easier to digest but apart from two that were turned into songs, nobody ever bothered. Since no one was interested in converting my ballads to music, I am not putting anyone out of work by pursuing this. The lyrics (apart from one collaboration with Graham Rodgers for the song The Eagle) are all my own original work. The music and vocals are AI. Should any recording artist want to take one of my songs and release it, I would be more than happy to speak with them about it. #SeaShanty #FolkMusic #Shipwreck #NauticalHistory #TallShips #ShantyTok #FolkTok #MaritimeHistory #SouthAustralia #LimestoneCoast #EpicFolk #SeaBallad
