Low amniotic fluid in pregnancy: Why it happens & How to increase it

What does it mean when your ultrasound during pregnancy shows that there is oligohydramnios. Oligohydramnios during pregnancy means that there is less fluid surrounding your baby growing in the uterus. This can mean problems for your baby growing inside; birth defects, preterm birth, difficult labor and even in-utero death of the baby are just a few of the complications that can happen. But then you need to know the normal to identify what is abnormal and thereafter manage it accordingly. Through this video I have discussed what is normal amniotic fluid, how it is measured and finally what to do in case oligohydramnios happens to you!! So do not panic if your ultrasound scan shows oligohydramnios!! Most of the patients with low amniotic fluid are managed successfully with a safe delivery and healthy baby. Be aware and be safe.
