The 20 plus charges the state threw at Ryan Bate—the accused killer of the Tremonton officers—is an indication they do not want a plea deal, according to some legal experts. Ryan Michael Bate, 33, was accused of 25 charges in all, ranging from two capital offenses of aggravated murder to misdemeanor property damage from a previously dismissed domestic violence case. The Utah Domestic Violence Coalition said the original case from May 2024 had all the indicators of a highly lethal situation already.
