Resurface a concrete driveway. Fix broken uneven driveways. Howdy Folks, all the basic tools we use and recommend are on Amazon's website. https://www.stuccoplastering.com/tools/ Live long and plaster hats, shirts, and other cool stuff. https://www.livelongandplaster.com/ Kirk Giordano Plastering Inc. BMI 690. For the big holes, I mixed half sand with half Polybond. Remember, the Polybond is created for Styrofoam and is not advised to be diluted, as I am doing. However, I have done this many times in the last 35 years successfully. Here is what the work looks like today in 2020, at the 20-minute mark of the below video titled, how to Repair a sinking concrete sidewalk. • Repair uneven concrete However, I don’t recommend using the Poly-Bond system I used in this video for this resurfacing system. Because the needed materials cannot be found at HD or Lowes but only at the plastering yards, slaking is involved. Also, motor oils and grease are complex to pressure wash off driveways or walkways where cars have leaked oil. On the other hand, dust, dirt, or moss on stucco walls is easy to wash off now. Remember, it’s just there to drive over. So why break the bank for that? I pressure-washed with a force of 3,400 to 5,000 psi. Nothing, not even the strongest caulking, will adhere to a surface where cars have driven over and, more than likely, leaked oils or transmission fluid. The oil absorbs deeply into concrete, and that powerful force is required to remove it. If it’s not clean enough to eat off, your product won’t adhere. Notice the water in the street and the pressure washer? It does not need to be dripping wet, just moist. I pressure-washed this area, but that's not noticeable in this video. If a wall or a ground surface is soaking wet, that’s as bad as dry. La Habra's poly bond is a cementitious adhesive not designed for this; however, over the last 40 years, this difficult fix has lasted many years and only fails if or when the grounds settle. Unlike a wall, no one drives cars that leak oil on walls. That’s only in comic books or movies. When folks are driving and walking on it, this causes vibrations and adds to the extra care necessary to clean it well. Remember, vibrations with any cementitious finish, especially flat surfaces such as a driveway, are like kryptonite to Superman, not good. Plus, the material I used is not sold at either of these stores but only at plastering yards, as it is precisely engineered to attach Styrofoam to base-coated walls. Also, folks can Google concrete self-leveling or resurfacing products. There are more than the three mentioned above. I added these three as I’m familiar with their product’s excellent history of quality. All can be purchased at either Home Depot or Lowe's. Today, I’d recommend BMI 690 with fibers. It’s lime stucco, stronger, and much more user-friendly. Google plastering yards near me for this incredibly strong and flexible stucco. • The right stucco for your home.
