If you want to move parts of your audio around within a file or want to copy a portion to another project, you’ll need to select a portion of your file. The easiest way to select the entire file is to press CTRL+A or Command+A on a mac. Once selected, the entire file will be highlighted. You can also click on Select All in the Edit menu or from the right-click menu. To select a smaller portion of your file, click on the waveform where you want your selection to start, then, drag to the end of the selection. Click play to confirm that your selection is correct, it will only play the selected portion of the file. To adjust your selection, hold your mouse on the edge of the selection, it will turn into a double arrow and you can drag left or right to expand or contract your selection. You can Zoom to show only the current selection by using the magnifying glass icon on the bottom right of your project window.
