From December 21st, two 1st Canadian Infantry Divisions, 2nd Brigade Battalions, the Loyal Edmonton Regiment, and a Canadian Seaforth Highlanders began with the advance through the narrow streets of Ortona. Soon they were engaged in a fearsome street fighting against men of the 2nd Battalion, the 3rd Parachute Regiment, 1st Parachute Division.
