Music isn’t just something you hear, it’s something you feel and experience. When I first listened to the new KEF Coda W Wireless Speakers, it was like someone lifted a veil off the music. Everything opened up and the vocals, guitars, and bass all had space to breathe and interact! I was most impressed with the bass response, which was intense and unexpected given the smaller 5 1/4” drivers on these speakers. But the 100w per speaker really makes itself known, and felt! KEF Coda W - https://soundapproach.com/kef-coda-w-... Right out of the box, I could tell KEF put real thought into the Coda W. The minimalist design in Titanium Gray is sleek, and that 12th-generation Uni-Q driver array looks incredible. There’s no visible tweeter, just clean lines and modern engineering. KEF though, has remained true to the CODA feel, and this unit is very reminiscent of the Coda 7 from a generation past. Just a few more bells and whistles for modern convenience. I tested Bluetooth first, streaming aptX lossless audio through spotify, and the results were impressive. The imaging was spot-on. The speakers disappeared, and the music filled the room, with excellent dispersion and presence. Then I connected my turntable through the built-in phono stage, and vinyl playback was warm, dynamic, and three dimensional. KEF’s Uni-Q drivers deliver precise imaging and a wide sweet spot, even when you’re off-axis. If I had to nitpick, clarity drops slightly at extremely high volume, creating a smear effect across the frequency ranges. It’s a little frustrating in a larger space, but in a smaller space, I didn’t notice this as much, probably because 80-90% was more than enough to fill the space. Additionally, there’s no Wi-Fi or AirPlay streaming built into the system, like some of the other wireless speaker units I’ve tested. But for everyday listening, I think the Bluetooth and wired connections are more than sufficient. Overall, KEF did a fantastic job with these speakers. From the design, performance, all the way to the cost, the Coda W blends convenience with true high-fidelity performance. Whether you’re new to hi-fi or building a second system for your office or studio, this is one of the most refined plug-and-play active speakers I’ve tested and definitely my favorite in terms of sound-quality, versatility, and overall performance. So…if you want to experience KEF’s next generation of sound, the Coda W is the perfect place to start. 💭 What do you think?
