“The Tories call out antisemitism quicker than Islamophobia.” Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, criticised the Conservative Party’s approach to Islamophobia, suggesting a “double standard”. Speaking on BBC’s Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, Burnham pointed out that the Tories are quicker to address antisemitism than Islamophobia. Burnham’s comments followed the outrage over Conservative MP Lee Anderson’s accusations last week that London mayor Sadiq Khan had allowed “Islamists”, who Lee described as Khan’s “mates”, to take “control” over London under his watch.
