Ontario Provincial Police say approximately 50 vehicles were involved in a series of multi-vehicle collisions Tuesday morning on Highway 401 in eastern Ontario, prompting closures in both directions between Shannonville and Brighton amid winter driving conditions. Emergency crews responded along the highway near Trenton and Belleville, with several people taken to hospital with minor injuries and a warming centre set up for stranded motorists. Traffic was detoured off the main highway as cleanup and investigation continue.
