Capt V Dongzathang, IRS (Retd) Condolence Programme LIVE from Pearsonmun Village

(Late) Capt V Dongzathang 1st November, 1941 – 1st November, 2021 Capt V Dongzathang, IRS (Retd) suffered a massive stroke at around 8:30 AM on 9th September, 2021 at the official residence of his eldest son Shri V Vumlunmang, Officer’s Colony, Sanjenthong. He was attended immediately by Doctors of JNIMS including the Director. He was immediately evacuated to JNIMS Hospital. CT Scan was done immediately and taken to the Operation Theatre. Emergency surgery done by a team of Doctors led by Dr Kh Vyas and Dr Amit. Thereafter, he was under the care of the Doctors, Nurses and supporting staffs of all related departments of JNIMS. After having fought for 53 days he breathe his last, leaving behind his near and dear ones at 12:00 AM of 1st November, 2021 (which incidentally is his birthday) to be with the Lord. Assam Regiment and posted at NEFA (Now Arunachal Pradesh). Retired as Captain on 14-7-1967 Civil Service : Joined Civil Services as IRS Officer from 1967 and served at Dibrugarh, Dimapur, Tezpur, Guwahati, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata in various Capacities. : Was instrumental in setting up Income Tax Office at Dimapur, Nagaland on 01 February, 1971 : Was founding Member of Mizo Christian Fellowship, Bombay in 1985 : Served the Indian Revenue Service and rose to become Accountant member of the Income Tax Appelate Tribunal (ITAT) from 22nd August, 1981 and the previledge of being on the invitee list of Rashtrapati Bhawan (till retirement in 2003) : Senior Vice President of the Income Tax Appelate Tribunal (ITAT) from 04-10-1996 : President of the ITAT (equivalent to Secretary, Govt. of India) from 1999 till retirement on 31-10-2003 : Significant contribution to the Department is in getting approval of the Government of India in the appointment of the President of the ITAT from amongst the Revenue Service Officers also. The earlier practice was to appoint from the Judicial Service.
