" Tishbohta L’alaha Bamrawme" (which means Glory to God in the highest) is a hymn chanted in several melodies, one of which is the so-called Great Melody (Qala Rabba). This particular melody is performed during the liturgy of “the arrest of Christ”, which follows the mass of Maundy Thursday (the Holy Thursday). While this hymn is being chanted in this rite, the lights of the church are completely extinguished, and it is chanted in an atmosphere of total darkness and solemn stillness. English translation of the lyrics: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, and good hope to humankind. We worship You, we praise You, we glorify You, O Being who exists from eternity. O hidden and incomprehensible nature, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. O King of kings and Lord of lords, dwelling in radiant light, whom no human has seen nor can see. For You alone are holy, You alone are mighty, You alone are immortal. We sing praises to You through Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, the Son of the Most High, the living Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. O You who sit at the right hand of the Father, receive our prayer. You are our God, our Lord, and our King; You are our Savior and the forgiver of our sins.
