THIS GAME WAS FIMED IN MARCH 2019 - for more Battle Reports please visit www.the30kchannel.com Iron Warriors VS Custodes Points: 2500 Mission: Custom Deployment: Hammer and Anvil The air was thick with dust as Konstantin Valdor, Captain-General of the Ten Thousand knelt down to brush the scribe’s desk clear. From amongst the numerous papers, his armoured fingers selected several leaves of parchment, and coiled them into a thick sheaf which he slid into a messenger tube. ‘We have what we came for, contact the ship master, our task is complete. Vespasian, be ready, we must be swift.’ There was a slight pause before the vox hissed in reply. ‘My apologies Lord, forward elements have made contact, the Fourth Legion have advanced, the transit way is held against us.’ The Captain-General cursed quietly. Standing messenger tube in hand he turned to the door. ‘Shield-Captain, I will halt their advance, you will lead a contingent below, and attempt to withdraw through the undercity.’ The vox hissed once more. ‘It will be done Lord.’ Valdor reclaimed his Guardian Spear as he strode swiftly out of the room, the Hetairoi stood outside, their black cloaks loose around their war plate. He strode towards their leader, messenger tube outstretched. Vespasian took the messenger tube, as one, he and his Companions turned to jog away. In the setting sunlight the golden auramite of their war-plate glowed a firey red. Ahead, a great gaping hole in the roadway yawned open, the gift of an earlier shell impact, a tunnel was visible, lit fitfully by sparking electrics, several of the Companions leapt into the gap. Over the vox he heard Valdor’s voice. ‘Secondary elements, you are cleared to engage, Pertuarabo’s clockwork soldiers must not keep us from our task.’ Vespian leapt into the dark tunnel, landing on one knee amongst the wreckage. His gene wrought eyes swiftly adapted to the light. One of the leading Custodians had already opened the seal at the tunnels end, and the retinue moved swiftly through. Beyond, the darkness was absolute, and even the eyes of the Custodians were strained by the lack of light. A bitter ozone smell was in the air, indicative of a teleport strike. ‘IRON WITHIN’ came the blaring roar from vocal augmitters, and a series of stark white stabbing lights illuminated Vespasian and his men from all three sides. ‘IRON WITHOUT’ came the screeching reply, as the bolters in the hands of the Fourth Legion terminator elite flashed and spat death towards the surrounded Custodians. The white hot bolt rounds found little purchase on the armour of the custodians. Vespasian and the companions were already moving, guardian spears whirling as they charged towards the Iron Warriors.
