ORATIO MEA — My Prayer in Light A sacred meditation inspired by Gregorian ambience, Latin prayer, and the quiet glow of spiritual light. May this music accompany your moments of reflection, study, healing, and silent prayer. LATIN TEXTS & ENGLISH TRANSLATIONS 1. CANTUS I — Psalmus 95(94):1–7 (Latin) Venite, exsultemus Domino; iubilemus Deo salutari nostro. (English) Come, let us exult in the Lord; let us shout joyfully to God our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and with psalms let us shout to him. For the Lord is a great God, and a great king above all gods. For in his hand are all the ends of the earth, and the heights of the mountains are his. For the sea is his, and he made it, and the dry land his hands formed. Come, let us adore and fall down, and weep before the Lord who made us. For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand. 2. CANTUS II — Psalmus 98(97):1–6 (Latin) Cantate Domino canticum novum, quia mirabilia fecit. Salvavit sibi dextera eius, et brachium sanctum eius. Notum fecit Dominus salutare suum; in conspectu gentium revelavit iustitiam suam. Recordatus est misericordiae suae, et veritatis suae domui Israel. Viderunt omnes termini terrae salutare Dei nostri. Iubilate Deo, omnis terra; cantate, et exsultate, et psallite. (English) Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done wonderful things. His right hand has saved for him, and his holy arm. The Lord has made known his salvation; he has revealed his justice in the sight of the nations. He has remembered his mercy and his truth to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. Shout joyfully to God, all the earth; sing, and exult, and play music. 3. CANTUS III — Psalmus 113(112):1–9 (Latin) Laudate, pueri, Dominum; laudate nomen Domini. (English) Praise the Lord, children; praise the name of the Lord. Let the name of the Lord be blessed, from now and forever. From the rising of the sun to its setting the name of the Lord is to be praised. The Lord is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens. Who is like the Lord our God, who dwells on high and regards the lowly in heaven and on earth? Raising the poor from the earth, and lifting the needy out of the dung, that he may place him with princes, with the princes of his people. Who makes the barren woman dwell in a house, a joyful mother of children. 4. CANTUS IV — Psalmus 115(114):1–8 (Latin) Dilexi, quoniam exaudiet Dominus vocem orationis meae. Quia inclinavit aurem suam mihi, et in diebus meis invocabo. Circumdederunt me dolores mortis, et pericula inferni invenerunt me. Tribulationem et dolorem inveni, et nomen Domini invocavi. O Domine, libera animam meam. Misericors Dominus et iustus, et Deus noster miseretur. Custodiens parvulos Dominus; humiliatus sum, et liberavit me. Convertere, anima mea, in requiem tuam, quia Dominus benefecit tibi. (English) I have loved, because the Lord will hear the voice of my prayer. Because he has inclined his ear to me, and in my days I will call upon him. The sorrows of death surrounded me, and the dangers of hell found me. I found tribulation and sorrow, and I called upon the name of the Lord. O Lord, deliver my soul. The Lord is merciful and just, and our God shows mercy. The Lord preserves the little ones; I was humbled, and he delivered me. Return, my soul, to your rest, for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you. ✦ ABOUT ORATIO MEA Oratio Mea is dedicated to sacred silence, Gregorian-inspired ambient music, Latin prayers, contemplative meditation, and spiritual peace.
